Mount Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Ebbw Vale, marked Mrs. June Chamberlain's service of over 60 years as Church Organist on 11th. March. She had been trained by one of our late Elders, Mr. Elvet Meyrick, and served the Church for many years. She is still involved in Sunday School work too. June has composed music and has recently written a piece to be used at our 125th. Anniversary celebrations. Her husband Des (who sings with Ebbw Vale Male Choir) and her daughters Andrea and Beverley, together with their families, were at the presentation. Unfortunately her son Gareth (who inherited his mother's musical talents) was unable to be present as he and his family live at Stoke-on-Trent. June has been an inspiration to everyone, and encouraged those who have come behind her to master the Church's pipe organ. Despite her considerable talent she is a very modest lady and uses her gifts to the glory of God. We were able to keep the presentation a secret from June, so that it was completely unexpected, and the ladies of the Church rallied around to provide the refreshments. The presentation, of a miniature "grand piano", a treble clef, theatre tickets and a bouquet of flowers, was made by the Minister of the Church, Rev. John Colney.
